Family life in the 1950's seemed so simple and they all appeared happy during this era or at least were portrayed like this in films.
I know not all families were happy and had healthy relationships with each other but the media did try to influence public that this is the right way to act and aspire to be.
The video starts off with showing a house, the father was waving his son to stop what he is doing and to stand by him. Along with the mother and daughter coming outside.
This family prioritizes their quality time together and makes sure to schedule it in advance.
Before this family was a mess and all the responsibilities were on the mother only. Which was unfair.
It was stated that the mom did all the laundry, cleaned her daughters room, did the dishes, ironed her sons pants, and did not have any time left to go to the movies with her husband.
Instead the mother set a family meeting in their dining room and suggested that everyone have their own roles in the house.
She still did most of the household chores but the change was that the daughter cleaned her own room, the son ironed his clothes, and they both took turns doing the dishes.
During this time period, family time was so important and needed to be cherished. This is the message form this video I linked.
Everyone needs to spend time with their families and compromise as well. It is not always going to be happy and fun times but you have to work that out and get past it.
