Newly Discovered Color Images of 1950s

What You Can Experience When looking through these photos you get a sense of realness just looking at these people on the street or walking to stores. Everything seems so busy and full of life but it was not polluted.  The cars are so unique and bulky but brings a sense of what your grandfathers and mothers did during this era. How there was little to none of social anxiety going on within these pictures.  Seems as if everyone had their own place in this world and had their lives picture perfect almost.  The signs along with the lights are enticing to spend your money on and just to enjoy life.  Looking at all these pictures in color makes my brain put together that they are real and were living like regular people during this time period.  Compared to those black and white photographs you cannot relate to.  The Vibes The type of vibes these give off of is where there is a world without people relying on technology and speaking more face to face.  Alth...

Are There Any 1950's Drive In Theaters Left?

What We Know From The Video From this film we see a young couple going to the last 1950's drive-in movie theater and I do have to say they are respectful when checking in. It is known that they drove an hour to go to the place to see this movie.  This couple had to wait about 30-40 minutes to get checked in and they arrived there about 6:30ish. Based upon the arrival of this movie theater it looks like every other one that we have in the modern age today.  The only difference between this original 1950's drive in movie theater and the modern ones is that it is smaller, older, and darker.  Although I do have to agree with a few people in the comments that as you further get into the video, the man gets an attitude problem about the food. He does not seem to be nice about his words at that moment. The Comments On This Film Many comments on this video has praise on how this young woman looks and I have to agree with them. The woman does look so beautiful with her 1950's dres...

St Patrick's Day 50s Dress

This is a festive green clover gift for those who love the 1950s! The skirt of this dress has a bunch of big and small clover leaves and has a white background on it. This plant has four dark green leaves and four lighter ones too. This outfit has three buttons at the top of this dress and has two black strings that come out from the top. The waist has a dark big strip that accentuates the figure and the skirt flows out nicely. My friend has a similar dress, but she has this in the color red. She loves to wear her dresses to 50’s style diners.

White and Black 50s Dress

This is a gorgeous dress for those who love the 50’s! The outfit has two straps that can be tied at the back and a bow at the waist. This dress has a long outward skirt and lots of black polka dots. This item of clothing has a white base and has wrinkles at the bottom of the skirt. At the top it has a black almost heart shape to fit the mold of a woman’s chest. My friend has this exact dress and she wears this so much on her dates with her boyfriend. He also wears 1950’s clothes everywhere too. It is so cute!

Top 5 Dances From the 1950s

1) The Boogie Woogie This type of dance style is like swing dancing that is fast and this was also labeled as, "Jump Swing." This dance is usually with the music genre the blues.  Along with the Boogie Woogie music with fast tempos. The dance includes jumping, hopping, stomping, and much more. 2) The Bop The Bop dance is mixed with a jazz genre and is like the Jitterbug in a sense. This style of dance was mentioned more for teenagers and young adults.  The Bop definition came from the jazzy tunes from the 1940's. This dance move used many moves as he swing and was usually done with almost no touching too. 3) The Bunny Hop This dance move became a big hit during the 1950's. It was danced to by Ray Anthony, which came out in 1952 and this included a step by step guide on how to do this dance move.  To do this dance style all you need is the energy to do it and to make sure you do not break any bones. This dance move is pretty simple. 4) The Chalypso This type of dance w...

1950's Style Best Shoes

These are a bright and stunning shoe gift for fifters! The pair of these shoes are in a happy yellow color along with a white stripe on the front and back of this product. The footwear has a medium heel and looks like it would hurt your feet less. This style of shoe is so adorable, and it has a strap along with a buckle, so your foot does not slip out. The inside has a tan color and a brown button at the bottom of the heel. My grandmother had a bunch of these shoes before she gave them away and loved them so much. If it were not that she had gained weight she would have kept wearing them until you physically couldn’t anymore.

Women Were Shamed More For Divorce Than Men in The 50's

During the 1950's women got married way early in life and went into wife life the rest of their lifespans.  At least most of the women did and even though it was frowned upon some couples got divorced. Many people who did separate were considered a disgrace but mostly went after women for not maintaining the relationship than the men. If a man got married again, they supported them but for women it was not always the case. The statistics from back in the 50's of couples who got divorces were in the medium percentage of everyone in the United States.  It is said, that women felt immense pressure to focus their goals on getting married and having a nice wedding ring.  These aspirations did not focus on whether the husband would be a good and unchanged man in the future or if he would leave you for another woman.  This was all about the fairytale of having love and looking so happy and successful on the outside. In the 1950's, the marriages in the U.S. were rated so hig...

What Made Them Know They Loved Each Other

This video starts off with a woman brushing her hair in her vanity mirror and seems to be thinking about life.  They included nice and calming music which I do love. Both the boy and girl looked presentable but I do see a pattern that everyone in this era looked a lot like each other.  I like how they used teenagers to represent how it is okay to not know if you have fallen in love just yet.   When the boy said, "You are the only girl I dated in two months." It made me laugh because of how brutal it sounded at the moment.  It made me realize everyone experiences the feeling of being lost in your emotions and not knowing if you are sad, happy, in love, or mad.  What makes me feel fuzzy inside is how the daughter is comfortable in asking her mother about what love feels like.  How love is an amazing feeling but it can also bring bad emotions as well such as when you get your heartbroken.  Everyone experiences heartbreak at one point or another but i...

Easter Flower Dress for Those who Love the 1950's!

This is a stunning flower print dress gift for those who love the 50’s! The outfit extends below the knees to keep modesty alive. Also, with a black belt that hugs the waist and has wrinkles on the bottom of the skirt. At the top of this dress it is sleeveless and shows off the collarbones. This dress looks like it would twirl so lovely and would make any women look elegant. My best friend has this exact same dress but does not have a print on it. She likes to wear this outfit on her picnic dates with her boyfriend and it is so sweet to hear about how they danced in the grass together.

Skintight White Lingerie for Those who Love the 50's

This is a sexy white lace lingerie piece for fifters! I notice that this type of clothing has a flower print and has an opening in the middle. This part is smooth and is without any substance on it. This piece has two straps on the side that are meant for tights and have metal at the top and bottom. The material is stretchy and is so adorable. My friend has lingerie clothing just like this one and when she wears this, she has a lot of confidence. She always tells me her boyfriend melts when she is in this piece.

Marriages Only Consisted of Men and Women Together

This film starts off with talking about how people in the 1950's spent their leisure time with television and hanging out with their families. During this era, it talks about how in America their ideal imagine of what a family looked like was a father, mother, and several children.  There was never a mention about a lesbian or gay couples with children, which I find to be sad.  As well as African American couples with children to be as a family but only seemed to show those of white skin and consisted of a man and women couples.  What I do like though is that they advertise about couples staying together within their marriage and making it work.  They do not show couples who have split nor have any step parents. The ideal image is having two parents working hard in their marriages and raising their children together.  Do not get me wrong I do advocate for couples to get divorced when their marriage is unhealthy and they cannot fix it anymore or they think it is ...

5 Top Heels From the Baby Boom Era

During the 1950's women used to have shoes that were smaller than the average heels for women today.  I do have to say they did have great and creative patterns or shapes for people within the 50' era.  1) 1950's pumps These heels were the type that looked like ones that you wore to work or went for business meetings. They have a long shape especially in the front and were small in the heel department.  It was meant for women not to be too tall but not to hurt your feet lots either. Most women in this time period got them in a shade of black. 2) 1951 strappy heels I have to say these types of heels are so cute and adorable, I would have mistaken them for the Baby Doll pumps. They have straps that wrap around the ankle. Some of these shoes can come without straps. What they all have in common was the small heel and you could get them with a variety of colors.  3) Ankle Strap Wedges and Flat These types of shoes look more like sandals without the heel at the bottom but...

Top 5 Cars in the 1950's!

1) 1951 Studebaker Champion This car was produced by the Studebaker Corporation of South Bend Indiana from 1939 through 1958. It was popular since it is a full size car and could be great for those who had a family.  This car looks like it is from the future and would be great for road trips as well. It comes with a variety of colors and suit it very well too.  2) 1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark This car was produced by a company named Buick and first came out in 1953. Many people loved this car because not only was it fancy as you drove by but was great for taking the whole family to places.  While not all were built as the designated family car there were ones that were known as a muscle car. This vehicle came in many different colors and were the focus on movies as well.  3) 1953 Porsche 550 Spyder This sports car was produced by Porsche from 1953 through 1956. Many men loved to buy this car and to show off their material wealth.  It was even stated that James ...

50's Homes Sound Scary

During the 1950s houses were so different compared to ones today. Many of them contained popular colors such as pastel, Scandinavian, and moderns. Kitchens were usually had lots of pastel cabinets, floors, tables, chairs, and soaps.  While 50's bathrooms had tiled pastel and accented dark colors.  Others had red or colored carpets and brick walls in their living rooms.  It seemed that every room had to have a window and were smaller in size for a family home.  The 1950's style homes were built with wood shake or wood shingle roofs. The bathrooms were built to be indestructible.  These house had great charm and charisma when just gazing at them and the neighborhoods were well established too.  It is said that houses during this era were more affordable to middle and lower classes than the newer ones. One thing I have to say is they kept their houses and front yards spotless and kept them looking amazing.  Compared to our houses today the 50's houses wer...

The Strict Rules to Look Presentable

What is cool but shocking to me was how they made a film on how to be well groomed.  I cannot think of any other videos that would have a guide to be well taken care of and even how to stay clean like this.  I do not even think our generation today has a detailed video like this and teaching others to be well groomed.  The film starts out in a black and white filter and it was produced by Coronet Instructional Films.  It starts out with a woman in her nice high heels in the house and it looks like she does not have any tights on but seeing from this era, I think she does.  I noticed her hair is curled and her room is well presented and clean. She seems to be dusting her dress which could mean she's getting the lint off? Dawn checks to make sure that her legs are shaved by leaning down and skimming her hand down her to her ankle.  Which indicates that she wants to make sure she has no hairs sticking out from her legs as it is not seen as looking presentable....

Sexy 50’s Calendar for 2021

What an interesting green and white booklet gift for fifters! This woman poses with ease as she snaps a photo back at the photographer. She is wearing a green dress with stockings. She has a big camera beside her and lifts her dress with the cord and hold‘s what clicks to snap a picture. This lady has red curled hair and is holding a bird stick in her hand. This photo reminds me of the crude shirts my guy friend has in his house and he wears them proudly out too. I am sure he would love this calendar and would hang it up in his room.

Movies From the 50's Showed False Relationships

I have to make one thing clear not all movies in the 50’s were in black and white on the screen. They did include color. The most famous movie that I remember is Cinderella that came out in 1950. It is a Walt Disney cartoon movie and it made big success for Disney as before releasing this movie they were about to lose this company. What I love about the movie covers is that they were so creative in showcasing what the movie was about by putting a catchy picture. Included massive faces with another couple on there with a film strip that shows the title of the movie or how they drew a couple on there and had great paragraphs to catch the viewers eye to watch them. It may not sound too exciting when I describe it, but it is so different to the movie covers that we produce today. During this era, many people physically went to the movie theaters and paid for them in person. This must have been a fun activity out of the house for them. I am sure not a lot of people went to the...

Black Flat Shoes Gift for Those who Love Vintage!

These are an amazingly unique pair of sleek shoes gift for fifters. They have a clear strap that connects to the buckle part of the shoe. Along with a beige color inside the sole of these flat feet covers. These shoes come with a shiny black color and have a small heel at the bottom. I notice the size and where this product was made in as well. My great grandmother used to love wearing these shoes when she was chilling at home and working on household chores. I definitely remember seeing her in these before she died many years ago and every time, I look at these style of shoes I think of her.

Why We Need to Have Some Values as Those from the 1950’s

Today people do not take relationships and marriage seriously anymore. I know that there are some that do but the majority of the population do not. Back in the 1950’s people used to be judged harshly if you became pregnant before marriage. I am not saying that we need to judge others harshly for having a baby before marriage but to instill into our children that they should have a baby after they are married. You may have the argument but what if I am not satisfied sexually or what if I do not like who I choose to marry? I you do not find pleasure from your partner sexually work on this and do not give up. Go to a therapist and settle this. If you do not like the person you married, then try counseling and if this does not work you can get a divorce. I wish people today gave more effort in these two departments. I think that people today should take their romantic relationships seriously and do not have any friends with benefits relationships as these are not healthy and...

How 50's Weddings Were so Modest

Weddings in the 1950’s were all about being modest and looking your best on your big special day. Many people during this era had church weddings and these were popular. These church weddings consisted of strict rules they had to follow regrading the outfits they picked out. The trend back in this time period was to have a wedding dress that was shorter than the average dress. It was one that showed a women’s ankle and shoes. When a woman during the 50’s had this type of dress she was considered fashionable. The men were styled in a tuxedo, shiny black shoes, and their hair was nicely done. The groom and the bride always looked presentable and stylish. Since modesty was talked about a lot and many followed this mantra women wore stockings and had sleeves on their dresses.   It is surprising that during this era, they allowed women to show their ankles on their wedding day. On the other hand, it is not surprising as they promoted women wearing dresses that do show their an...
