50s Couch Throw Pillows

This is a cool whiskey animated pillow for those who love the 1950s! The small comfy square has an alcohol bottle and has a nice brand name on it. It is covered in colors of black, beige, and orange. This pillow is small and has been a limited edition since 1943. The shading of this glass looks realistic and would go well with a farm or modern design living room. My friend has a couch pillow that is similar to this, but she has a wine one. Seeing this reminds me of her house parties she has all the time and how invites her book club friends as well. She is a popular person.

1950s Hairstyles That Were Popular and Easy

Thoughts on 50's Hairstyles Hairstyles back in this era were mostly shown of women with short curly hair.  They had big curls that made the volume in their hair rise and looked so shiny as well.  The women put curlers in their hair the night before while it was wet so once they took them out they would have lushish waves on the top of their heads. What is not talked about is that they did have long hair in this era.  Those who did produced the commercials and photoshoots just did not include these types of women/hairstyles as much. All of these women had lots of volume and head full of hair as well, I am quite jealous.  Those who had longer hair in the 1950's styled their hair with bigger curlers the night before as well.  I would have to say I love the look of both hairstyles and I found them so intriguing!  Women's Hairstyles in the 1950s Many of the women in this time period went for the short hair with curls as a way to look fancy and presentable.  They loved lots of v

Vintage Cat Clock From The 50s

This cat clock is a nostalgic but cool gift for those who love the 50’s! The item has a longhand and shorthand that blends in well with the background color. The overall colors for this clock are white and black. This cat has a white outstanding bow and has a smile on it’s face. The eyes move and so does the tail that sways back and forth. My grandfather used to have a clock like this, and it used to freak me out as a kid. It brings back lots of good memories from my childhood. I loved it but hated it at the same time.

Women's Strict Beauty Routines in The 1950's

What Is So Special About This Film? What is so special about it is the aesthetic this woman put into this video. She has such a cheery and fun voice that lights up the room. This woman has the dressing style down for this 1950's style video about beauty routines and how she does not talk bad about it either.  Some people in their videos they have some terrible things to say about the 50's while they are making a video about this time period. She thinks of doing this routine during the week to give yourself some self-care and be gentle with your skin and body.  The 50's themed music in this film makes it even more calming and has a relaxing vibe to it. She reminds me of my grandma who was born in the 1950's era and brings back some good memories. I definitely would recommend watching this video as she has some great tips and tricks to put in your modern or 50's beauty routine that you have. It works for both! What Happens In This 50's Video?    A woman commentat

Scotch Glasses From The 50s

These glasses are so unique looking for those who love the golden age! This box consists of a couple glasses and they are all small. They can fit a nice enough alcohol and you can see through it as well. These whiskey glasses come in a big cardboard box and has a nice print on it. The box is recyclable, which is good for the environment and you can enjoy a nice glass with some friends. My friend has some of these glasses and she loves to host parties consisting with them. It reminds me of the time she invited her boyfriend over and he fell twice. I felt bad for him.

Gender Roles in the 1950s And Why They Are Wrong

Women's Roles During this time women's roles were quite strict and they had to do all the cleaning, cooking, raising the children.  On top of these they were pushed to be healthy and workout to stay fit for their husbands.  The men on the other hand were supposed to support the family based only on their one income and back in this era wages were for keeping people off the streets.  The 1950's were all about the family life and living to be peaceful after the war ended.  Women were taught to socialize as well but by hanging out with their girl friends and talk to people when going to the grocery store.  Many of the women did not have any social anxiety or felt isolated because they made time to hang out with others and made sure to be out and about even if it were to get coffee.  Lots of them did not rely on TV's to keep their time occupied and kept themselves busy by doing chores, socializing, doing fun activities, taking vacations with their families, etc. Women'

50s Style Mugs

This is a nice solid mug for those who love the 1950’s! This cup is in all white that matches many people’s modern kitchen style. It has a black print on the front of the mug and is small. The mug fits a good amount of coffee and looks to be sturdy as well. This cup has a tiny handle and has a round bottom. My aunt has a cup that is this similar and it reminds me of when she gets her morning coffee. She bought one for my grandpa, but he does not use it much. Anyway, she loves her coffee all black without any creamer which is quite strange.

Newly Discovered Color Images of 1950s

What You Can Experience When looking through these photos you get a sense of realness just looking at these people on the street or walking to stores. Everything seems so busy and full of life but it was not polluted.  The cars are so unique and bulky but brings a sense of what your grandfathers and mothers did during this era. How there was little to none of social anxiety going on within these pictures.  Seems as if everyone had their own place in this world and had their lives picture perfect almost.  The signs along with the lights are enticing to spend your money on and just to enjoy life.  Looking at all these pictures in color makes my brain put together that they are real and were living like regular people during this time period.  Compared to those black and white photographs you cannot relate to.  The Vibes The type of vibes these give off of is where there is a world without people relying on technology and speaking more face to face.  Although internet is the best but it c

Marilyn Monroe Mask 50s

This is a stunning Marilyn mask for those who love the 1950’s! The mask has a quote directly from when this famous actress was alive and has her signature red lip. They made this item out of cotton and has a black background. They included her bleach blonde hair and with winged eyeliner. My mother has this exact same mask and she wears it everywhere. It reminds me of when she got her Marilyn soap bottle that she got in her bathroom. She loves all items that consist of this actress.

1950s Triplet Singers

The History  Ruby Christine McGuire was the first born child in 1926, Dorothy Dottie McGuire was the second child born in 1928, and the last daughter was Phyllis Jean McGuire who was born in 1931.  These three sisters were born in Middletown, Ohio and grew up to be famous singers together within the 1950's.  The women grew up to be beautiful and have radiant smiles. There most popular hit songs were "Sincerely" and "Sugartime."  It was said that these two songs were a hit back in the day and everyone loved the McGuire Sisters. Their music of genre was traditional pop.  They were a singers together from the years of 1952 through 1968. It was said their mother was a minister but there seems to be no mention of the father. Ruby died in 2018, Dorothy died in 2012, and Phyllis died in 2020. Although the causes of death were never released to the public.  Music Career These woman all started singing together when Phyllis was just four years old and sang everywhere inc

50s Coca Cola Salt and Pepper Shakers

These are a cool sat and pepper shaker for those who love the 1950’s! The bottles are small and are made out of glass. They both have a silver top that is shiny and reflects the lights nicely. You can see the name brand called, “Coca Cola” on the front and they can hold lots of both these spices. They resemble the older soda shapes and look well put together. My cousin has these salt and pepper shakers that are similar to these two and she uses them a lot. She got these from her friend, and it turns out her friend bought the same ones too!

Are There Any 1950's Drive In Theaters Left?

What We Know From The Video From this film we see a young couple going to the last 1950's drive-in movie theater and I do have to say they are respectful when checking in. It is known that they drove an hour to go to the place to see this movie.  This couple had to wait about 30-40 minutes to get checked in and they arrived there about 6:30ish. Based upon the arrival of this movie theater it looks like every other one that we have in the modern age today.  The only difference between this original 1950's drive in movie theater and the modern ones is that it is smaller, older, and darker.  Although I do have to agree with a few people in the comments that as you further get into the video, the man gets an attitude problem about the food. He does not seem to be nice about his words at that moment. The Comments On This Film Many comments on this video has praise on how this young woman looks and I have to agree with them. The woman does look so beautiful with her 1950's dress,

50s Style Wall Clocks

This is a unique but awesome clock for fifters! This clock has many black medium balls at the end of these sticks. There is a lot of silver on this big clock and it definitely catches people’s eyes. The clock has a circle in the middle but lack of numbers on it. The minute and hour hand are in a black color and have different designs. My cousin has this same clock in her house, and it reminds me of my grandfathers as well. He used to have one in his bedroom and used to tell me about how he made it in his workshop. He ended up not selling this clock in a garage sale but instead kept it.

1950 Original Cinderella Disney Movie

Brief Summary   Cinderella is a Disney movie is all about a young woman who lives with her evil stepmother and step sisters. They basically make her their slave and the mom and sisters get to be lazy and live their best lives.  The family gets too mooch off of Cinderella's fathers money. One night she meets a fairy godmother and she provides her a beautiful ballgown and glass heels.  Cinderella dances with this prince and they fall in love with each other at first sight. She then leaves and the prince is devastated so then he searches her and eventually he does and they live happily ever after.  What To Like About Cinderella   This movie does help the main character to be disciplined and to not be about boys but to focus on housework and her future. Although she did not get along with her family she still was kind and did not say anything bad about them.  Cinderella goes to the ball to have a fun time and did not have the goal to meet the prince. She just wanted a night out where

Coca Cola Napkin Holder Vintage 50s

This is a stylish Coca Cola napkin dispenser for those who love the 1950s! The holder has a red and white theme going on this small box. There are also some silver tones as well that are made out of metal. This Cola napkin holder has four black buttons it seems like that holds all the weight. The box looks like it can handle being knocked over by any animals or children as well. My friend has this Coca Cola holder in her house on her dining room table and her boyfriend always complains about how she is obsessed with 1950’s things. I think this napkin dispenser is so cute!

Psychiatrist in 1950

Psychiatrists in the 1950's  I do like psychiatrist attitude towards their patients especially the guy from the YouTube channel named, "Pika Grape Snack."  They have great content they post regarding many patients with mental disabilities.  The man in these films that I have found, I like that he talks about them like they are human beings and not people who are disgraceful or have something terribly wrong with them.  Some people from this time period may think of people with mental disabilities like this since it is not widely known like they are today.  The psychiatrist speaks calmly to them and tries to understand them rather make fun of them or immediately dismiss them. He is actually interested in getting them help and finding out why they have these specific mental disabilities. Why Psychiatrists Were Disliked in This Time Period One thing I did not like though is their medical solutions to these mental issues such as using shock treatment or locking patients up in

50s Pink Vintage Cup

This is a beautiful cup for Fifters! The vintage cup has pink glitter in the background and has a silver top. This drink holder is small and has a silver shiny side at the very top. This drink holder has a white almost cursive print and fits nicely in anyone’s hands. There is two hearts on the front and a crown as well. My friend has this exact same vintage cup and she loves it. She uses it everyday for her hot coffee and brings it along with her to work.

1950's Fashion Women's Jeans

What Were Women's Jeans Were Like? Women's jeans in this era were fitted at the top but were loose at the bottom. I have noticed that a lot of the women in this decade rolled up the end of the jeans so it sits above the ankles. I do have to say that the jeans women wore in the 50's look so comfortable and somewhat fashionable but not all of them as some are questionable.  Some look a bit funny with the jeans just covering the knees and you can see their caves and ankles.  Others have good stylish prints that disguise the jeans and some look like men kaki's but could be used for job interview's. From the photo's I have found I love the jeans with a matching dark belt, and some chains hanging off from the side of the belt. It looks like pants from those K-pop Idols clothing.  Jeans Within Old Photos These jeans or pants for woman are not mentioned much upon searching within the 1950's category and I can see why as these do not resemble the image of society bac

50s Black and White Flower Dress

This is an eye-catching flower pattern for those who love the 1950’s! The dress has lots of black flowers along with some lilac roses. There is a white and black bow around the waist that makes whoever wears this outfit look thinner in the stomach area. The top of this outfit is curved into a U and has thin straps. The dress flows outward and looks like you can spin nicely in it. My friend has a dress just like this one and she wear it to festivals all the time. It is her go to outfit when festival season comes around in her town.

How A Psychiatrist Interviewed A Bipolar Patient

The psychiatrist asks this older woman to sit across from him and watches her carefully. What I like about this man is that he talks to this woman humanely and calmly as if he really does want to help her. This older woman seems to be anxious and stumbles over her words and you can't help but feel as if you want to comfort her. He keeps talking about how two months ago that she talked a lot and how she was feeling cheerful.  How she has changed since then and asks her if there is anything she'd like to do. This woman seems so down and shamed of her behavior it seems like to be wanting to ask for help from this psychiatrist.  The most famous line she says is, "I don't know." Then she keeps looking at the floor and looks as if she is about to be scolded by this authority figure.  He keeps asking her questions about what she does in her days, what she feels, and what would she would like to do in this moment in the film.  The psychiatrist talks about treatment and sh

50s Coca Cola Portable Radio

This is a cool radio for those who love the 1950’s! The small Coca Cola radio has a bright red complexion and a silver antenna. At the top in the middle of this, it has a silver handle that fits anyone’s hands. It has the brand name on this and has two knobs to change the station or to turn up and down the volume. This radio has lines across it on the front part and it glows red when it is on as well. My grandfather has a small radio just like this one and it is so cute. He gets so excited talking about his collection of Coca Cola stuff along with his old bottles of this brand too.

Famous 1950s Movies That Were A Hit At The Time

 1) Cinderella This movie is about a young lady who lives with her evil step mother and step sisters who try and ruin her life.  She goes to the ball with the help of her magic godmother and once it strikes midnight she leaves a glass shoe.  Once the prince discovers it was her who left the shoe at the ball, they get together and live happily ever after.  2) Born Yesterday  A young woman moves to Washington with her millionaire sugar daddy.  Turns out that his lawyer is pressuring him to marry this woman as a wife cannot be forced to testify against her husband.  This causes Harry to hire a journalist to smarten up the woman and romance blooms. 3) Father of the Bride When Kay announces she is getting married her father tries to help pay for her wedding but there comes up many problems regarding money and the planning.  This is the journey of a father having a hard time giving away his daughter.  4) The Asphalt Jungle  Dix gets released from prison and plans to steal $1 million in jewel

What Makes 50s Coffee So Irresistible?

This is an appetizing whole bean coffee mix for those who love the 50’s! The bag has the colors of cream white and green on the front and side. There is a small square on the front of this and it has a divide of colors that consist of yellow and white. This small container is small and has nice edges to it. You can see the oz’s and the name brand on the front of this bag. My friend loves this type of coffee and even serves it to her mother in law. She always likes trying new ones as well all the time with her.

How A Psychiatrist Interviewed A Depressed Patient

What I love about this Psychiatric interview is that the medical professional does not judge this woman at all but has patience and talks to her kindly.  It seems as if he knows she's having a rough time and only wants to help her as she seems lost and uninterested in anything in life but the mention of death. To others she may seem as if she is a normal person without a chemical imbalance in her brain making her struggle internally but do not dismiss her as if she is faking or just wants attention.  I know many people from this 1950's era would disagree with this statement but mental illnesses should be taken more seriously and should have a fragile approach.  At the next part of the scene they show this woman's wrists that are covered in bandages but the interviewer does not ask about them right away only later in the film.   He goes onto ask questions about her personal life, what she does in the day, how she feels, and if she eats enough. When explaining how she hurt he

50s Blue Coffee Cup

This is a gorgeous coffee or teacup for fifters! The light blue cup has flowers that droop down and has long stems. It has long dark green leaves and other different flowers that have a fluffy white top. The overall cup is tall and looks like it can hold lots of coffee in it. There is a white handle that is so cute with a bit of gold at the top of it. My grandma used to have a small teacup just like this one and I remember she used to tell me stories about how she met my grandpa while holding it. They met while my grandpa flew in from the military and settled within Arizona.

Why Did Narrators From The 1950s Always Sound The Same?

Commercial radio broadcasting started within the 1920's and moved through the 1950's era.  Soon enough people listened less to the radio and went for televisions as they became cheaper.  This is because TV's back in the early 50's were very expensive that only the rich got to watch any shows or interviews. As you know lots of people tuned into the radio to hear about politics, Broadway shows, news broadcasts, and more to hear about what is going on in the world.  What is shocking to find out is that people who were in radio broadcasts and in motion picture films sounded so similar was because they were taught to speak a certain way.  Many people who taught what is called the transatlantic accent in radio and motion picture studios at the time.  When the radio was introduced to the world, microphones sounded tinnier and had a very different frequency.  Many companies wanted their speakers to adopt and accent so that they were heard clearly by the public and this sounds s
