1950's Fashion Women's Jeans

What Were Women's Jeans Were Like? Women's jeans in this era were fitted at the top but were loose at the bottom. I have noticed that a lot of the women in this decade rolled up the end of the jeans so it sits above the ankles. I do have to say that the jeans women wore in the 50's look so comfortable and somewhat fashionable but not all of them as some are questionable.  Some look a bit funny with the jeans just covering the knees and you can see their caves and ankles.  Others have good stylish prints that disguise the jeans and some look like men kaki's but could be used for job interview's. From the photo's I have found I love the jeans with a matching dark belt, and some chains hanging off from the side of the belt. It looks like pants from those K-pop Idols clothing.  Jeans Within Old Photos These jeans or pants for woman are not mentioned much upon searching within the 1950's category and I can see why as these do not resemble the image of society bac...

Fifties Style Fashion For Men

As it is known many men lived within the era of the second world war and were trying to cope with their PSTD from it.  This although did not stop their good fashion sense. I am pretty sure they used clothing as a way to distract themselves. Lots of the men had clean-cut and conservative outfits that was suited for them to looking like businessmen.  It seemed as if they wanted the world and other neighbors to see that they are smart and provided well for their families.  Many of their style of clothing icons were Elvis Presley, James Dean, Marlon Brando. These celebrities had the aesthetic of being playful and living life to the fullest. People from the 50's went with the preppy style of clothes that played off a youthful culture that was inspired by students in college. During this era, many men wore oversized shirts to give the look that they were fuller and healthy. These were mostly worn during the day.  Another popular clothing item was the double-breasted suits....

What Purses Women Wore In The 1950s

Jasmine Chiswell's YouTube videos are so well put together and she has such accurate information on 1950's things and mannerism's.  This film starts off with her talking about her dogs which are so cute and adorable. Then she goes on to talk about how she is doing a, "1950s vintage handbag haul." Jasmine has her makeup nicely done as women did theirs back in the 50's as well as her hair.  What was so interesting to know was how she lives in Marylin Monroe's house, which she does not talk about in the video but thought I'd mention it because it is cool to hear about.  She shows us her vintage bag and it looks so unique. It looks like a bag that would not be in the 1950's era but more futuristic like today's handbags.  The bag is so shiny, cute, and small. Although you would not fit a whole book in there it is enough to put money and some bank cards in there.  Chiswell's purse has a little clasp and not a zipper that most bags have now. It l...

The Golden Age From World War II

The 1950's was called the golden age of Capitalism as it was a period of unprecedented economic growth that benefited both the capitalists and workers, which resulted in bigger wages. This era was right after World War II and everyone was getting back on their feet financially and emotionally as well.  I am not too sure about mentally especially for men as they must of had some PTSD from the whole ordeal.  This opened up doors for people to find jobs and create some businesses with ease. People in this time period started watching television and listening to music all the time. Music artists, actresses, and actors were making lots of money during this time since people were into both of these.  This was also the time for the baby boom. If you do not know what this is it is about how lots of babies were born as many troops returned home from the war and started families with their spouses.  Do not be mistaken though women were the wives and lots of them stayed that wa...
