What Purses Women Wore In The 1950s

Jasmine Chiswell's YouTube videos are so well put together and she has such accurate information on 1950's things and mannerism's.  This film starts off with her talking about her dogs which are so cute and adorable. Then she goes on to talk about how she is doing a, "1950s vintage handbag haul." Jasmine has her makeup nicely done as women did theirs back in the 50's as well as her hair.  What was so interesting to know was how she lives in Marylin Monroe's house, which she does not talk about in the video but thought I'd mention it because it is cool to hear about.  She shows us her vintage bag and it looks so unique. It looks like a bag that would not be in the 1950's era but more futuristic like today's handbags.  The bag is so shiny, cute, and small. Although you would not fit a whole book in there it is enough to put money and some bank cards in there.  Chiswell's purse has a little clasp and not a zipper that most bags have now. It l...

Old Magazines From the 1950's!

What I love from this video is that Jasmine is so smiley and happy in her video. You can tell she has such a great passion for the 1950’s. Everything about this era seems to brighten her day. I love how she styles her hair like many in the 50’s. She has the waves just like how Marylin Monroe did her hair. It was interesting to view a lot of these magazines that she choose to show her viewers. How the covers are so different from magazines today. The quality of print on these look more like drawings on the inside and I am fond and here for this look.   What they have the same from our magazines today is they have the big title on the front and features a photo of people. Whether it be models, actresses, actors, etc. I noticed that one of the magazines was priced at 20 cents and it seems so cheap compared to ones we buy at the store today. I bought a magazine for almost nine dollars and that was a Harry Styles Vogue one. What surprised me about these 1950’s magazines was ...

4 Scandalous Outfits in The 50’s!

This TikTok video shows four scandalous outfit styles women wore in during the 1950’s era. Jasmine Chiswell has put together great examples. It is interesting to know that during this time period women wearing tight short shorts was considered clothing that made people talk bad about. How it brought a bad reputation to some by just wearing these shorts. Today many people wear skintight shorts but that is the norm in society. During the 50’s women were to wear modest clothing and look like a presentable housewife. You were not to wear anything that counteracted this image. This representation could be good for some but bad for others if they did not wish to follow this norm. Coned shaped bras are quite strange I have to admit. They are pointy and do accentuate a women’s chest. I can understand where people were coming from when coned bras were labeled as a scandalous piece of clothing. They bring lots of amount of attention to a women’s chest area and could make some feel unco...

Why Many Would Love This Accurate 50's Video

This TikTok video has an accurate representation on fashion and makeup looks from the era of the 1950's. These clips show a woman dressing in clothing from what children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and grandmother's would wear during the 50's.  She first shows her audience the looks of what girls in high school would wear mostly consisting of dresses and skirts. How different ages dressed and their swimwear as well during this time period.  How grandmothers and adults dress in longer dresses and skirts than the younger ages during this era but consists of great colors that catch your eye. Then covers popular makeup brands that were advertised and what the style of makeup looks were like in this generation. You can't help but notice the woman in these also resembles the big smile the models have in the magazines shown. What makes these clips entertaining is her confidence and gives off huge positive vibes. It seems as if she really enjoys wearing 1950's clothin...
