50s Black and White Flower Dress

This is an eye-catching flower pattern for those who love the 1950’s! The dress has lots of black flowers along with some lilac roses. There is a white and black bow around the waist that makes whoever wears this outfit look thinner in the stomach area. The top of this outfit is curved into a U and has thin straps. The dress flows outward and looks like you can spin nicely in it. My friend has a dress just like this one and she wear it to festivals all the time. It is her go to outfit when festival season comes around in her town.

St Patrick's Day 50s Dress

This is a festive green clover gift for those who love the 1950s! The skirt of this dress has a bunch of big and small clover leaves and has a white background on it. This plant has four dark green leaves and four lighter ones too. This outfit has three buttons at the top of this dress and has two black strings that come out from the top. The waist has a dark big strip that accentuates the figure and the skirt flows out nicely. My friend has a similar dress, but she has this in the color red. She loves to wear her dresses to 50’s style diners.

How To Get Dressed As A Women In The 1950s

Women in the 1950's usually woke up with robes or a see through dress in the mornings, I think the type of clothing depended on how old the ladies were.  Once they were up and around they took off their robe or dress and were left in their bra's and high-waisted panties.  These women would begin to put on a bit of a longer skirt with hooks hanging to fasten some tights that would come with a zipper.  This item of clothing was supposed to accentuate the hips and make them look wider. After this the ladies would put on their stockings, which they made sure to wear everyday and attach them to the hooks.  The next step would be to put a thinner skirt over the first skirt mentioned and this one extended along to the knee.  After this would come the dress that you have chosen to wear and this would cover up the two skirts and some of the tights.  What surprised me is that these dresses did not look like a thick material at all but of a thin material.  Since ...

Wild Flower 50s Dress

This is a wild and flowery gift for those who love the 1950’s! The dress is long and extends towards the knees. It has a U-shape at the top of this outfit and hugs the waist nicely. This skirt goes outward and makes for fun in twirling in this dress. It resembles some spaghetti straps and bring out the color of anyone’s eyes. Although this may not be the dress for some, there are some would love this outfits. I know for sure my grandmother did, she loved wearing this dress everywhere and it reminds me of her.

1950 Scandalous Fashion

You would think that 50's fashion did not have many restrictions but that is a false assumption.  There was some hidden pieces of clothing that were scandalous at the time and many people were criticized so much for them. One that made huge headlines were coned bras and the reason these bras got so much hate was because it resembled a lot to nipples poking through the fabric.  This clothing item made people distracted and disgusted by looking at this piece.  I can only imagine what the older ladies thought of this clothing trend back in the day. Another clothing outfit that was widely criticized was a dress that had too deep of a V-neck line.  Many women were bashed because they exposed too much of their breasts with these sharp necklines.  Which makes no sense to me but people had different opinions back then.  Wearing no make up made lots of controversy as women were supposed to look presentable not only for their husbands but for the public.  Women ...

Skintight White Lingerie for Those who Love the 50's

This is a sexy white lace lingerie piece for fifters! I notice that this type of clothing has a flower print and has an opening in the middle. This part is smooth and is without any substance on it. This piece has two straps on the side that are meant for tights and have metal at the top and bottom. The material is stretchy and is so adorable. My friend has lingerie clothing just like this one and when she wears this, she has a lot of confidence. She always tells me her boyfriend melts when she is in this piece.

5 Top Heels From the Baby Boom Era

During the 1950's women used to have shoes that were smaller than the average heels for women today.  I do have to say they did have great and creative patterns or shapes for people within the 50' era.  1) 1950's pumps These heels were the type that looked like ones that you wore to work or went for business meetings. They have a long shape especially in the front and were small in the heel department.  It was meant for women not to be too tall but not to hurt your feet lots either. Most women in this time period got them in a shade of black. 2) 1951 strappy heels I have to say these types of heels are so cute and adorable, I would have mistaken them for the Baby Doll pumps. They have straps that wrap around the ankle. Some of these shoes can come without straps. What they all have in common was the small heel and you could get them with a variety of colors.  3) Ankle Strap Wedges and Flat These types of shoes look more like sandals without the heel at the bottom but...

America's Most Loved Show

I Love Lucy is an American sitcom of the century in 1951. It stared Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo, Desi Arnaz as Ricky Ricardo, Vivian Vance as Ethel Mertz, and William Frawley as Fred Mertz. This show was watched by millions and across the world and was broadcasted by CBS. One of the main characters Lucy is a funny and wacky wife of Ricky Ricardo. He was known as a Cuban bandleader. They live in New York and Ricky tries to stay afloat for his family in show business to help as best as she can, but she can get into some pickles along the way. Lucy and Ricky’s best friends Ethel and Fred who are also known as their landlords always come visit them and have a good time together. I have seen many episodes where Ethel and Lucy are in messes, they get themselves into and sometimes their husbands have to dig them out of these situations. In this show, later on Ricky and Lucy welcome a baby boy named little Ricky in 1953 and it was broadcasted on Television. In these episodes t...

They have a sleek quality pattern that clings on these bottoms and had the look that it clings to your legs nicely. These pants stop at the ankle and shows off this woman’s figure amazingly. My best friend loves 50’s items especially if they are these type of bottoms, they match so great with any outfit and looks fancy. Although she would not pair them with heels but with flats. Freedom for Those of Color

The civil rights movement in the 1950’s was a crucial and important social matter in this era. This movement was for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law of the United States. Many of those of color saw this as it could be possible since the Civil War had officially abolished slavery. Even though slavery was not a thing anymore they were still treated with disrespect and they wanted this to change. Black Americans along with many white Americans, mobilized and began to fight for the justice of equality that went on for two decades. It was known that many people of color worked low-wage jobs which were farmers, factory workers, domestics, and servants. During the time of the 1940’s, Black Americans were talked down from joining the military and still weren’t getting better paying jobs. After many people of color threatened to march on Washington to demand equal rights, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued an order in 1941 that opened national defense jobs a...

Pinup Girl Poster Gift for Those who Love Vintage! This woman has a cute 50’s styled outfit. She has a blue hat, long V-neck striped pattern shirt, blue skirt, clipped tights, and black and white shoes. The background on this art has two clouds, symmetrical trees lined up and a lake. What I noticed next was the big fish and the log she is sitting on. From this poster she looks as if she is fishing and what is she fishing for? I would say fish, but others would disagree. This woman has bright red lipstick and curly hair as well. I imagine this art in a man cave since it gives off the vibe of sexual appeal. I do not want to categorize so I think some women would love this poster in their home as well.

Safiya Nygaard Covered the 1950's Accurately

Safiya Nygaard covered the 1950’s style so well and she was so respectful on all of the fashion from back in this time. She accurately looked like a replica of a woman in the 50’s. The hair, makeup, and clothing. I noticed that she looked at many magazines of all of the styles women wore in the 1950’s. There were many women who wore dresses with polka dots, flower prints, solid colored ones such as yellow, and many more! I like that she mentioned that during this time period there was good things about the 50’s but also bad things and situations. It was taught that women never left the kitchen, how they always looked after the children, and catered to their husbands. The information that I learned from this video was that birth control was given the okay to women in this era. I was shocked to find out these details as I had not come across this part in history just yet. All about the youth rebellion as well. Lots of women had more puffed out dresses in this time period compared to the ...
