Valentines Day Dress Gift for Those who Love the Golden Age!

Valentines Day dress gift for those who love the golden age! This rose printed dress has black and white polka dots. Along with a zipper in the back and short sleeves. This outfit would fit a person tightly and extends above the knees. I imagine a woman with short hair that is curled wearing this to a fancy event. She wears this dress with confidence and poise. This outfit reminds me of something my great grandmother would wear she loved red. She always had the figure for it as well.

Old Magazines From the 1950's!

What I love from this video is that Jasmine is so smiley and happy in her video. You can tell she has such a great passion for the 1950’s. Everything about this era seems to brighten her day. I love how she styles her hair like many in the 50’s. She has the waves just like how Marylin Monroe did her hair. It was interesting to view a lot of these magazines that she choose to show her viewers. How the covers are so different from magazines today. The quality of print on these look more like drawings on the inside and I am fond and here for this look.   What they have the same from our magazines today is they have the big title on the front and features a photo of people. Whether it be models, actresses, actors, etc. I noticed that one of the magazines was priced at 20 cents and it seems so cheap compared to ones we buy at the store today. I bought a magazine for almost nine dollars and that was a Harry Styles Vogue one. What surprised me about these 1950’s magazines was how

Hardcover Book Gift for Those who Love the 1950’s!

Hardcover book gift for those who love the 1950’s! This housewife book has a woman posing and behind her is a vacuum cleaner. She has the attire as what a wife looks like in this era. Women today and back then could read this paperback book and found out what it takes to be a housewife in the 1950’s. How it is the same or different compared to housewife’s in 2020.

Children in the 1950’s Were Happier than Kids Today

During the 1950’s children lived different lives than we do now. They left school early and most of them did not pursue college. Many children during this time period started to work at 14 years old and became a drop out. There was a small percentage of who went to college but compared to today many people need to have a bachelor’s degree to have a good job. Unless you have great connections to people who would hire you without much experience. In this era, getting a job was easier. You did not have to make a detailed and a long written out resume, but you did have to put your experiences down. Children at 14 years of age had no problem attaining a job. Since in the 1950’s still had the aftereffects of the Second World War many of their food rations were limited. Sugar was rationed until 1953 and meat came off a year later. I am sure parents were concerned about how sugar was rationed during this time but more for the meat. Since they wanted their children to have good nutr

Valentines Day Sunglasses Gift for Those who Love the 50’s!

Valentines Day sunglasses gift for those who love the 50’s! These are red plastic 1950’s themed sunglasses. They have a fun heart shape with a lighter tint of red. I love these pair of sunglasses I purchased these the other day and they look great with any outfit I pair. They have the Tumblr/chic vibe to them. I imagine wearing these sunglasses to any event and pairing them with a black dress. These are so adorable.

Why Marilyn Monroe Lives On Forever

Marilyn Monroe had the ideal look that everyone wanted to have back in the 1950’s. She rose to fame very quickly and was idolized so much by the public. Monroe was an American actress and was labeled as a sex symbol within the 50’s. She was born June 1 st , 1926 and died August 4 th , 1962. I was shocked to find out that she was 5’5 as she seemed so much taller in photos, I would have thought she was 5’7. Marilyn had short blonde hair and a face that shined in the spotlight. One rumor that stuck with me was that she really wanted to get pregnant when she was a live and that sadden me as she died so young. She could have experienced more and made more movies. Monroe could have spent more time with her family and grown into an older blossoming woman. One thing that people loved was that she was kind and you could feel like she was in a sense your friend. She seemed as she was not all about the money but all for making memories and living life to the fullest. You could tell she

Pinup Girl Poster Gift for Those who Love Vintage!

Pinup girl poster gift for those who love vintage! This wall art is of a young woman in a yellow dress with heels on. She has red hair and poses with confidence and ease. The wording on this poster has a quote. I imagine this wall art in your room or in the living room as it is a good conversation piece. I would gift this poster to a friend and uplift her spirits. This would definitely be shown off in my home.

1950's Western Women Hairstyles

I would say that women in the 1950’s had good hairstyles. You mostly see women with short hair than long. Do not get me wrong I have seen women with long hair, but it was rare since the trend at that time was to have short hair that was curly. I am a full supporter with women with dark brown hair with curls. I do like that they did not think of women with short hair as portraying too close to be looking like men or that they were copying their hairstyle. It is not a competition at all. All genders can choose to have their short or long if they wish too. Society did have the image that women with short hair were housewives, medium for young, and long for Hollywood pin ups. Which I do not think that women should abide by these. I am fond of women having short hair so that there is less to do with it. I am personally one who likes to keep her hair short as I do not have patience for long hair. When going to salons in the 1950’s it was a lot easier to style or cut someone’s hair

Valentine’s Day Blouse Gift for Those who Love Vintage!

Valentine’s Day blouse gift for those who love vintage! The pattern on this top has white small hearts and frills on the arms. I notice there is two big red hearts on the collar and shiny buttons lining up horizontally. I recently purchased this blouse and it is so cute! I would say the material is soft and gives you such a vibrant and fun look to this outfit. I imagine that you would wear this to a Valentine’s Day party or just to the grocery store. I am obsessed with this top.

4 Scandalous Outfits in The 50’s!

This TikTok video shows four scandalous outfit styles women wore in during the 1950’s era. Jasmine Chiswell has put together great examples. It is interesting to know that during this time period women wearing tight short shorts was considered clothing that made people talk bad about. How it brought a bad reputation to some by just wearing these shorts. Today many people wear skintight shorts but that is the norm in society. During the 50’s women were to wear modest clothing and look like a presentable housewife. You were not to wear anything that counteracted this image. This representation could be good for some but bad for others if they did not wish to follow this norm. Coned shaped bras are quite strange I have to admit. They are pointy and do accentuate a women’s chest. I can understand where people were coming from when coned bras were labeled as a scandalous piece of clothing. They bring lots of amount of attention to a women’s chest area and could make some feel unco

Red and Black Polka Dot Capris Gift for Those who Love The Golden Age!

Red and black polka dot capris gift for those who love the golden age! These capris are stretchy and are a soft cotton material. They have a red and black polka dot print and visually skintight on the lower region of the body. At the back of the bottom of these pants have a downward V-shape that shows more skin. I would say that this style of capris would be so cute with a small black top along with black heels. I imagine someone with short curls in their hair with a red lip and radiating so much confidence.

What Was Good About 1950's Cars?

I have to say that 1950’s cars look like they are from a whole different universe. What I love about these cars are the white streak around the front of each of the tires. You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!  I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel Air is my favorite looks wise. Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked, biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going. Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as well. The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out. When looking through pictures of 50’

Cyan Radio Gift for Those who Love the 1950s!

Cyan radio gift for those who love the 1950s! This small radio has a nice rounded speaker with their logo labeled on it. They included a knob to change the stations you would like to listen to. Also, a smaller one to choose which volume you think is best. I imagine many people who have this device would be cooking or cleaning while listening to cheerful Christmas music. This radio is so small I am sure you could take it anywhere or you could use it as a good center piece in your living room.

Why We Are Considered Obese Compared To The 50's

In the era of the 1950’s people were thinner and one of the contributing factors was that they either walked, biked, or ran to work. During this time, cars were considered a luxury and not many people could afford them. There was an average of 15% of households that obtained a car but, in this generation, there are about 80% of households that do have vehicles. I do have to say people were more encouraged also to be fit and watch their weight in the 50’s. Do not get me wrong of course genetics plays a role in what weight you obtain in your body, but it is always good to eat healthy and always care for yourself. You can always have snacks and unhealthy food occasionally but lessen these indulges.   In 2020, people are more willing to pick up fast-food more and care less and less about their health. I think this also contributes to the types of jobs we choose as well. There are a lot more work from home jobs and those who work at desks all day. Of course, there are some who have

Small Car Ornament Gift for Those who love Vintage!

Small car ornament gift for those who love vintage! This ornament has an olive-green color along with a beige and brown print. Above the tires, this small car has a checkered black and beige color plallet. I love the wreath in the front of the car and a Christmas tree tightly tucked at the top. I love the look of this gift as it looks so cute and festive for the Christmas holidays. This car may be small but has such a radiant glow to it.

How People in the 1950's Parented their Children

During the 1950’s parents gave their children more freedom than they do now. Although this can be a good and bad thing, it did give them a lot of independence and freedom. It was common that children walked to and from school alone, rode their bikes everywhere, and could buy anything from the store. Children could do almost what adults could do back in the 50’s. In today’s world it is not the case such as it is not as safe to have your kids walk home alone, not to ride their bikes too far, and have limits on what you can buy at the store such as children cannot buy cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, etc. I personally think it is great that children cannot buy these products today. I do have to point out that parenting in the 1950’s was stricter than it is in 2020. Back in this era, parents made sure to be consistent with punishments. They prioritized eating meals together as a whole family. Everyone had to be at the dinner table to spend time together and talk about their day such a

Glass Christmas Tree Gift for Those who love The Golden Age!

Glass Christmas tree gift for those who love the Golden Age! This small tree is made up of smooth glass with different colored ornaments. It has a sparkly star at the top and green leaves hanging down to hold these cute ornaments. This looks like a beautiful Christmas present to buy someone. I recently purchased this item and it sits wonderfully on my coffee table. It is stunning to look at. This piece would look great in any room and would brighten up your house in the best way possible. I imagine this gift in my grandma's kitchen countertop as she loved any Christmas decorations she got from her grandkids.

Breastfeeding During the 1950's was Considered Disgusting

I am surprised to know that breastfeeding in the 1950’s was considered old-fashioned and labeled as disgusting within the media. How it was practiced by the uneducated and taught to those of the lower class. I’m all for breastfeeding and how if you choose to or not it is okay with me. This is your choice and your body. I just do not think that breastfeeding should be frowned upon or should only be catered to the lower class. It was confirmed that people who could not afford formula had to breastfeed and this caused them to be looked down upon a lot by many people even those in the medical field. I think that one should not be judged whether they choose to breast feed or not. As many just prefer it or that their baby does not take formula. Everyone has a different reason of doing things and it might not make sense to others. Back in the 1800’s and 1900’s breastfeeding was encouraged, and I stand by this statement as it should be supported. Breastfeeding experiences are differe

Plaid Christmas Dress Gift for those who Love the 50’s!

Plaid Christmas dress gift for those who love the 50’s! This outfit has a plaid pattern that blends into the bow. The bottom of the dress has a flowy skirt and the top part has a skintight look. I think this stunning outfit would suit anybody especially those who love 1950’s clothes. Pairing this look with black heels and a pearl necklace would make this outfit beautiful. I imagine this dress would be worn during a Christmas party or a New Year’s party celebration to be with friends and family. It could even be worn without a specific celebration to go to as well.

50's Era Morning Routine

This video that I have linked in this blog post is about a woman who looks about to be in her 20’s. I would say that she got everything right about what a morning routine was like back in the 1950’s. There are people who are criticizing her that people in this era all had short hair, but I beg to differ with other arguments on this. Many women had long hair and short hair in that time period as there are evidence in older photos. They had no advanced technology to look at their smartphones in the morning and did not have alarm clocks on their devices either. Lots of them woke up and started their day with opening the curtains. I have noticed that people without technology during this era enjoyed the sunshine more in the mornings and throughout the day. Women got ready whether it is in their bathroom or in front of their vanity. Which is normal to get ready anywhere in the house, but it was more common without a music playlist on a phone or a Bluetooth device. On the other hand,

Christmas Dog Ornament gift for Those Who Love Vintage

Christmas dog ornament gift for those who love vintage! One amongst the many ornaments has a medium black long-haired dog with a collar named Coco. It has a small present beside him with a green box and a red tie that is made into a bow. I bought this as a remembrance for my grandma as she had a dog named Coco that was with her leading up to her death. It brings me comfort to know I have something that I can remind me of her everyday leading up to Christmas Eve and that she is still looking over me. I truly treasure this on my Christmas tree as it brings back happy memmories for me.

Post World War II

During the 1950’s it was the era known as the post-World War II boom. They used this term to say that the economy was making great progress and was looking up. Although wars were common and seemed important in the past, I never am the one advocating or encouraging all these fights and using wars to sort out disagreements. Not to be rude but seems childish and immature in a sense. A point to notice within this era is that it was not just the end of the world wars but the booming of the suburbs and all about being a family and taking on family roles. An not to forget about the baby boom! The baby boom began in the mid 1950’s when a record of 3.4 million babies were born in the U.S. Due to there not being a war anymore and couples were spending more time together at home it brought many of them to have children. I am not going to lie that the suburbs and lots of children being born during this time period made me happy and excited for their future. I am sure they were happy that things

Smooth small Christmas dress for people who love the 1950’s

Smooth small dress for people who love the 1950’s! This dress has a cute Christmas print with a big skirt made for people who want to feel like Cinderella. It has a black bow with short sleeves and a zipper at the back. The V-line on the dress is not too short either. This outfit is fun for the holiday season coming up and I think this dress would look great at a Christmas dinner. I picture a woman all dolled up with her hair in curls and paired with black heels to match the whole aesthetic.

1950's Best Commerials

This video starts off with a coca cola commercial and they have a physical narrator in frame. What I find good about this ad is how they relate the coke to real life events. When I mean real life events is by how they showed a couple together in their home and the wife putting away the sodas in the fridge. Today many commercials do not relate to real life events and make us confused on what the product they were promoting.  I have seen some ads that are supposed to be about insurance but focused on how a guy does the splits instead. It just left me confused and had me thinking, what was that?  The next commercial is about jell-o. What is good about this is they went for a cartoon vibe and had a witty narrator. Although they did not have a physical narrator they still exectuted this well.  The story they were telling did relate to the product and was entertaining. I would say lots of the ads in the 50's were captivating and made people understand the product they were focusing on. I

Pastel Pink High Heels Gift for People who love the Golden Age!

Pastel pink high heels gift for people who love the golden age! These beautiful heels are not too big but not too small either. They have a bow in the front that matches the pastel color all around the shoe along with the straps as well. This pair of shoes gives off the vibe of being cute and makes your heart melt viewing them. I’m so into the 1950’s looks, and these heels would match any outfit you have. Although you do have to match your outfit colors to this bright color, but I think it is worth it. They remind of the white heels I used to wear as a kid and hearing the satisfying clapping sound as I am walking anywhere. I still to this day love the sound that heels make when walking, especially on the sidewalk. It brings back wonderful memories.

What Dating was like in the 1950’s

Dating in the 1950’s is so different from dating in today’s world. Today women are encouraged to ask men out on dates but in the 50’s this was frowned upon. Only the men could ask out women on dates and assigned men in charge of this area completely. Although, I do not agree with only men asking women on dates today, but I think women taking charge and asking men out radiates confidence. In 2020, dating is not taken as seriously as it did back in the 50’s. Many people go on dates to feel them out and to see if there even is a connection and they expect kissing, intimacy, and having children to be before marriage. It is normal in this generation to do these things before getting married. Back in the 1950’s, it was the opposite. If you were to go on a date, they took it very seriously and had fully intentions to marry in the future. Marriage was before intimacy and the conception of children. If a couple had these prior to getting married, you were frowned upon and even disowned

A silk Christmas dress Gift for people who love the 50’s!

This silk Christmas dress is a Gift for people who love the 50’s! This product has long smooth sleeves with a black bow on the waist. Along with a cute print of white snowflakes, reindeers with a Christmas hat on, and stockings with candy canes coming out. Dresses are so beautiful on their own but adding a Christmas pattern at the bottom makes this product all worth it for the holiday season coming up. What I love is how the dress flows nicely and is not just a boring plain skirt at the bottom. Although this outfit is not for kids, it is a nice outfit to wear during this holiday season. Who knows you could wear it while going to a relatives house show off the charm of the dress. noticed that it does have a handy zipper on the back, and you can put a colored belt over where the bow sits. This outfit would be a great Christmas gift for any girl or woman in your life. Heck, I would even wear it when it is not the holiday season. You are worried that this dress does not come in
