Women's Strict Beauty Routines in The 1950's

What Is So Special About This Film? What is so special about it is the aesthetic this woman put into this video. She has such a cheery and fun voice that lights up the room. This woman has the dressing style down for this 1950's style video about beauty routines and how she does not talk bad about it either.  Some people in their videos they have some terrible things to say about the 50's while they are making a video about this time period. She thinks of doing this routine during the week to give yourself some self-care and be gentle with your skin and body.  The 50's themed music in this film makes it even more calming and has a relaxing vibe to it. She reminds me of my grandma who was born in the 1950's era and brings back some good memories. I definitely would recommend watching this video as she has some great tips and tricks to put in your modern or 50's beauty routine that you have. It works for both! What Happens In This 50's Video?    A woman commentat...

Are There Any 1950's Drive In Theaters Left?

What We Know From The Video From this film we see a young couple going to the last 1950's drive-in movie theater and I do have to say they are respectful when checking in. It is known that they drove an hour to go to the place to see this movie.  This couple had to wait about 30-40 minutes to get checked in and they arrived there about 6:30ish. Based upon the arrival of this movie theater it looks like every other one that we have in the modern age today.  The only difference between this original 1950's drive in movie theater and the modern ones is that it is smaller, older, and darker.  Although I do have to agree with a few people in the comments that as you further get into the video, the man gets an attitude problem about the food. He does not seem to be nice about his words at that moment. The Comments On This Film Many comments on this video has praise on how this young woman looks and I have to agree with them. The woman does look so beautiful with her 1950's dres...

What Purses Women Wore In The 1950s

Jasmine Chiswell's YouTube videos are so well put together and she has such accurate information on 1950's things and mannerism's.  This film starts off with her talking about her dogs which are so cute and adorable. Then she goes on to talk about how she is doing a, "1950s vintage handbag haul." Jasmine has her makeup nicely done as women did theirs back in the 50's as well as her hair.  What was so interesting to know was how she lives in Marylin Monroe's house, which she does not talk about in the video but thought I'd mention it because it is cool to hear about.  She shows us her vintage bag and it looks so unique. It looks like a bag that would not be in the 1950's era but more futuristic like today's handbags.  The bag is so shiny, cute, and small. Although you would not fit a whole book in there it is enough to put money and some bank cards in there.  Chiswell's purse has a little clasp and not a zipper that most bags have now. It l...

What Made Them Know They Loved Each Other

This video starts off with a woman brushing her hair in her vanity mirror and seems to be thinking about life.  They included nice and calming music which I do love. Both the boy and girl looked presentable but I do see a pattern that everyone in this era looked a lot like each other.  I like how they used teenagers to represent how it is okay to not know if you have fallen in love just yet.   When the boy said, "You are the only girl I dated in two months." It made me laugh because of how brutal it sounded at the moment.  It made me realize everyone experiences the feeling of being lost in your emotions and not knowing if you are sad, happy, in love, or mad.  What makes me feel fuzzy inside is how the daughter is comfortable in asking her mother about what love feels like.  How love is an amazing feeling but it can also bring bad emotions as well such as when you get your heartbroken.  Everyone experiences heartbreak at one point or another but i...

Blue and Red Word Search Book

This is an awesome booklet for those who love the 50’s! It has many pages to keep your brain busy by searching for words with just your eyes. I noticed that is has yellow wording and an arrow indicating to open the book. The front page has labeled the 1950’s on it and the author has made sure to put their name on it. At the top right corner of the red/yellow square you see a star shape. My sister loves to do crossword puzzles and she has a collection of them in her closet. It reminds me of seeing her use them at her doctor’s visits.

Are 50's Kids Different from Kids Today?

The video starts off with a grey background and a description on the screen. I think the graphics look older and has that 1950’s vibe. At first glance, I don’t think that 50’s kids and children today eat differently. Everyone seems to eat the same in my opinion. Although some may have phobias regarding eating too fast is all I can think of. The difference I noticed right off the bat is that families normally do not eat with each other every night at the dinner table. Sometimes mothers or fathers work until 9pm at night or midnight and cannot eat at the dinner table with their spouse and children. In the 1950’s it seems as if it was mandatory to eat all together at the dinner table and talk about what went on in everyone's day. They promote eating healthy and maintaining a healthy body weight. It is not said that children are limited to food nor do they need to fatten up. It is hard not to mentioned that they do advertise only men and women couples and not differed g...

Safiya Nygaard Covered the 1950's Accurately

Safiya Nygaard covered the 1950’s style so well and she was so respectful on all of the fashion from back in this time. She accurately looked like a replica of a woman in the 50’s. The hair, makeup, and clothing. I noticed that she looked at many magazines of all of the styles women wore in the 1950’s. There were many women who wore dresses with polka dots, flower prints, solid colored ones such as yellow, and many more! I like that she mentioned that during this time period there was good things about the 50’s but also bad things and situations. It was taught that women never left the kitchen, how they always looked after the children, and catered to their husbands. The information that I learned from this video was that birth control was given the okay to women in this era. I was shocked to find out these details as I had not come across this part in history just yet. All about the youth rebellion as well. Lots of women had more puffed out dresses in this time period compared to the ...

Why Many Should Learn 50's Beauty Care

At the start of this video, they do have a good idea of what the 1950’s was like. How women were very presentable, and they always were about modesty. They mentioned the movie Grease, the diners that everyone loved in this era, and milkshakes. How they have 50’s beauty icons that they look up to.   Which I thought was great and how all the women in this video were so nice and open minded about the beauty stuff women in the 1950s followed. They did mention that lots of women roles were to be a good housewife and have children but how that was their whole life. They didn’t promote jobs much and being an independent woman. What we have in common with ladies from the 50’s is that keeping your skin clean was a big priority. You removed your makeup from the day and washed your face thoroughly. I did notice that back then many women did not have many skin care creams and lotions to put on their face as we do today. In our generation we have many steps and products to put on our ...

Old Magazines From the 1950's!

What I love from this video is that Jasmine is so smiley and happy in her video. You can tell she has such a great passion for the 1950’s. Everything about this era seems to brighten her day. I love how she styles her hair like many in the 50’s. She has the waves just like how Marylin Monroe did her hair. It was interesting to view a lot of these magazines that she choose to show her viewers. How the covers are so different from magazines today. The quality of print on these look more like drawings on the inside and I am fond and here for this look.   What they have the same from our magazines today is they have the big title on the front and features a photo of people. Whether it be models, actresses, actors, etc. I noticed that one of the magazines was priced at 20 cents and it seems so cheap compared to ones we buy at the store today. I bought a magazine for almost nine dollars and that was a Harry Styles Vogue one. What surprised me about these 1950’s magazines was ...

Why Marilyn Monroe Lives On Forever

Marilyn Monroe had the ideal look that everyone wanted to have back in the 1950’s. She rose to fame very quickly and was idolized so much by the public. Monroe was an American actress and was labeled as a sex symbol within the 50’s. She was born June 1 st , 1926 and died August 4 th , 1962. I was shocked to find out that she was 5’5 as she seemed so much taller in photos, I would have thought she was 5’7. Marilyn had short blonde hair and a face that shined in the spotlight. One rumor that stuck with me was that she really wanted to get pregnant when she was a live and that sadden me as she died so young. She could have experienced more and made more movies. Monroe could have spent more time with her family and grown into an older blossoming woman. One thing that people loved was that she was kind and you could feel like she was in a sense your friend. She seemed as she was not all about the money but all for making memories and living life to the fullest. You could tell she ...

50's Era Morning Routine

This video that I have linked in this blog post is about a woman who looks about to be in her 20’s. I would say that she got everything right about what a morning routine was like back in the 1950’s. There are people who are criticizing her that people in this era all had short hair, but I beg to differ with other arguments on this. Many women had long hair and short hair in that time period as there are evidence in older photos. They had no advanced technology to look at their smartphones in the morning and did not have alarm clocks on their devices either. Lots of them woke up and started their day with opening the curtains. I have noticed that people without technology during this era enjoyed the sunshine more in the mornings and throughout the day. Women got ready whether it is in their bathroom or in front of their vanity. Which is normal to get ready anywhere in the house, but it was more common without a music playlist on a phone or a Bluetooth device. On the other hand,...

1950's Best Commerials

This video starts off with a coca cola commercial and they have a physical narrator in frame. What I find good about this ad is how they relate the coke to real life events. When I mean real life events is by how they showed a couple together in their home and the wife putting away the sodas in the fridge. Today many commercials do not relate to real life events and make us confused on what the product they were promoting.  I have seen some ads that are supposed to be about insurance but focused on how a guy does the splits instead. It just left me confused and had me thinking, what was that?  The next commercial is about jell-o. What is good about this is they went for a cartoon vibe and had a witty narrator. Although they did not have a physical narrator they still exectuted this well.  The story they were telling did relate to the product and was entertaining. I would say lots of the ads in the 50's were captivating and made people understand the product they were focu...

This TikTok video has an accurate representation on fashion and makeup looks from the era of the 1950's. These clips show a woman dressing in clothing from what children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and grandmother's would wear during the 50's.  She first shows her audience the looks of what girls in high school would wear mostly consisting of dresses and skirts.
