You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!
I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel
Air is my favorite looks wise.
Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those
with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked,
biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going.
Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had
some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as
well.
The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which
I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference
but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out.
When looking through pictures of 50’s cars, I was surprised
to see there were plan white vehicles. Usually you only see red or the bright
colors when viewing cars from this era.
As any other generation, they do have some ugly cars as
well. Some short and stubby ones, ones that have an odd shape, and those with
too long of a back to them.
Buying a new car in this era, was about in the 2,000 to 3,000
range and this varied between the lower and middle class. They were constructed
with a steel frame and chrome highlights.
Since World War II, many marketers could cater towards families
and the rich to buy their cars. They had a full range of using television
advertisements and through word of mouth.
What was interesting to find out is that during this timer
period, cars went 65 to 100 miles per hour. Vehicles during the 50’s were gems
and were so uniquely made.
Let us not forget the number of teenagers that used cars in this decade to be have some privacy and become intimate with their partners.
Plus, all the mischief they did such taking unexpected trips, going to local parties, and just having fun.
