What Influenced Cleanliness For Adults and Children

When things go south during the 1950's era, they make educational videos to educate the public.

This is not a bad idea to do, I think we should have educational videos like this as advertisements along with those for car insurances, and more.

Specifically in 1951, many adults made a good film on how children need to have good hygiene and how to maintain it.

By watching these videos today they do have important information but seems like it would be terrifying for children at this time since I saw a giant tooth influencing kids.

I do have to mention, I love the narration they do for these videos they produced back in the 50's. The men have calm asmr voices.

They do include videos such as brushing your teeth, washing your hands, showering daily, washing your dishes, and cleaning up your house.

What shocked me to find out was how bars of soap during this time were used for everything including laundry.

Many of these producers for these videos concentrated on how people were supposed to look representable and beautiful.

They focused a lot on looks and how happy and successful people were on the outside rather looking inward.

The Story of Hilliard Brooks Jr's Murder

In 1950 on August 13, a 22-year old man named Hilliard Brooks Jr. was murdered on a bus after he was accused of making a disturbance. Back in these days what was the disturbance, was he talking back because he had to stick up for himself or was it because he was protecting someone else? Some reports were very unjust and plain unfair in my opinion. The reason he was accused of this was because be refused to leave and enter from the rear bus as Jim Crow wanted him to. This bus driver called the police and a white officer shot this black man and wounded two people in the process. Bad Boys in the 1950s

These type of men/teens were the most idolized people in the 1950's along with some celebrities. One celebrity in particular that had the bad boy style and his name was James Dean. This type of outfit melted the girls/women's hearts at the time. Males would wear a leather or denim jackets, white or patter button up top underneath, blue or light jeans, either a quiff hair or leave it natural with some gel in it. I think of the outfits that Johnny Depp would wear in his Crybaby movie with his slicked back hair, leather jacket, and a rebellious but hot vibe. Today we label these type of people as bad boys but back in the 1950's they were called the greasers and apart of the greaser subculture. Commercial radio broadcasting started within the 1920's and moved through the 1950's era. Soon enough people listened less to the radio and went for televisions as they became cheaper. This is because TV's back in the early 50's were very expensive that only the rich got to watch any shows or interviews. As you know lots of people tuned into the radio to hear about politics, Broadway shows, news broadcasts, and more to hear about what is going on in the world.
