Breastfeeding During the 1950's was Considered Disgusting

I am surprised to know that breastfeeding in the 1950’s was considered old-fashioned and labeled as disgusting within the media. How it was practiced by the uneducated and taught to those of the lower class.

I’m all for breastfeeding and how if you choose to or not it is okay with me. This is your choice and your body. I just do not think that breastfeeding should be frowned upon or should only be catered to the lower class.

It was confirmed that people who could not afford formula had to breastfeed and this caused them to be looked down upon a lot by many people even those in the medical field. I think that one should not be judged whether they choose to breast feed or not.

As many just prefer it or that their baby does not take formula. Everyone has a different reason of doing things and it might not make sense to others.

Back in the 1800’s and 1900’s breastfeeding was encouraged, and I stand by this statement as it should be supported. Breastfeeding experiences are different for everyone as well.

Some may love breastfeeding and others may not like it because of the way it feels, or it just hurts. Others do not want to bond with their baby this way and that is okay.

Many may say your supporting bad behavior as the child grows up and how it is inappropriate to breastfeed. I do not think by feeding your baby milk is disgusting or setting a bad example either.

It is a way to feed a baby and by taking care of it properly. Babies do not have sexual desires nor think of it in terms of it being a bad act as it is just a way of making your baby healthy and stronger.

I just would like to say to those out there that breastfeeding is not bad to do nor is it bad not to choose to breastfeed. Do what you want to do and not what others want you to do.

1950's Western Women Hairstyles

I would say that women in the 1950’s had good hairstyles. You mostly see women with short hair than long. Do not get me wrong I have seen women with long hair, but it was rare since the trend at that time was to have short hair that was curly. I am a full supporter with women with dark brown hair with curls. I do like that they did not think of women with short hair as portraying too close to be looking like men or that they were copying their hairstyle. It is not a competition at all. All genders can choose to have their short or long if they wish too. Society did have the image that women with short hair were housewives, medium for young, and long for Hollywood pin ups. Which I do not think that women should abide by these. I am fond of women having short hair so that there is less to do with it. I am personally one who likes to keep her hair short as I do not have patience for long hair. When going to salons in the 1950’s it was a lot easier to style or cut someone’s hair...

What Was Good About 1950's Cars?

I have to say that 1950’s cars look like they are from a whole different universe. What I love about these cars are the white streak around the front of each of the tires. You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!  I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel Air is my favorite looks wise. Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked, biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going. Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as well. The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out. When looking through pictures of...

1950 Home Rules They Followed

Many people in the 1950's lived simply and it is what most of us would want in the modern world of 2021.  Everyone had a routine that they followed such as making our beds when you woke up, take a bath, cook breakfast, etc.  Once in a while they would change up their routine to have a variety and not to get bored but for the most part they never strayed away from their routines.  This was true, especially those with children. They always said that kids need stability and a routine or else they were cranky and rebellious.  Many people from the 1950's were all about their houses being so spotless and were to be shown off to others as well.  They always followed the mantra of cleaning up after yourself as you went and making sure you had good cleaning habits.  Lots of educational advertisements at the time wanted the public to wake up and dress in presentable clothes, it did not matter that you were a housewife.  You had to look and had to have the attitu...
