During the 1950s houses were so different compared to ones today. Many of them contained popular colors such as pastel, Scandinavian, and moderns.
Kitchens were usually had lots of pastel cabinets, floors, tables, chairs, and soaps. While 50's bathrooms had tiled pastel and accented dark colors.
Others had red or colored carpets and brick walls in their living rooms.
It seemed that every room had to have a window and were smaller in size for a family home.
The 1950's style homes were built with wood shake or wood shingle roofs. The bathrooms were built to be indestructible.
These house had great charm and charisma when just gazing at them and the neighborhoods were well established too.
It is said that houses during this era were more affordable to middle and lower classes than the newer ones.
One thing I have to say is they kept their houses and front yards spotless and kept them looking amazing.
Compared to our houses today the 50's houses were much more simpler and made sure to have lots of colors.
The average cost to buy a house in this era was around $2,990 through $7,400 for median incomes.
Most of these houses were commonly built in the suburbs and wanted to have children in a good and fun environment.
Within the mid 1940's it was known there was a shortage of houses and this was because of the war at that time.
It was all the funding that went to World War II that messed the economy up and left people to have limited food and be left with little to no houses to buy.
