Men's fashion only consisted of suits and sometimes loungewear. In my opinion it was nothing special.
I saw some photos of men who wore button up shirts and long shorts right above the knee. You would assume that they would be wearing it to only the beach but that wasn't the case. They wore them out of the house as well.
Many of them wore long pants and long sleeve shirts in the wintertime and almost all the time depending on the guy.
Compared to men today back in the 1950's men wore loose pants that did not squeeze the ankle as many of them do today.
Which is fine for me, I think men look great in both types of style pants and can wear them as they please.
There were some men who went for the typical bad boy look such having a leather jacket, blue jeans, and had their hair nicely slicked back.
This is the style of what James Dean always wore. Other men were all about suits and looking professional.
They had fancy hats, white button ups, black coat, tie, and loose pants with fashionable closed toe shoes.
I noticed that some of them wore suspenders and sometimes even rose up their pants past their bellybutton.
Moving onto the bathing suits for guys, they consisted of small shorts way above the knee and had a print on them.
I have to say they did look comfy and they resemble what men today wear as boxers or underwear under their clothes.
One thing, I have to say is they all looked so professional, modest, and handsome. They definitely groomed and took care of themselves well.
As today, many men back in the 1950's did not have many options for clothing and styled themselves simple.
