The First Man Ever to Use Insulin as a Murder Weapon

William Dale Archerd was born on May 5th, 1912. He came into the world in Dardanelle, Arkansas, United States.

Archerd was labeled as an American serial killer who killed three people with insulin injections from 1956 to 1966 in California.

It is said that he was the first to be convicted of the use of insulin as a murder weapon in the United States and it is theorized in three more cases.

William early life consisted of him being interested in medicine but did not have the discipline to be a doctor that dealt with medicine nor had the money to go through college.

He did work in a mental hospital from 1940 through 1941 as an assistant where patients were treated with insulin shock therapies.

I would assume this is where he got his love of insulin came in and gave him the idea to want to experiment on his victims.

During 1950, Archerd was convicted to five years on probation for possession of morphine in San Francisco.

As time went on he was parole was revoked, he escaped prison and was arrested again, put in San Quentin Prison, and was released again.

At this point, I do not understand how we was released after everything that went down but then again, some people may change?

Archerd was arrested in July of 1967, in Los Angeles for a threefold murder.

He was convicted for killing Zella Archerd which was his fourth wife and was two months after their wedding.

Then he killed Burney Archerd who was his nephew, Mary Brinker Arden who was his seventh wife.

Honestly how many wives does man need to have at this point. To have seven wives is too many people to be married to.

Anyway the timeline of these killings were: Zella in 1956, Burney in 1961, Mary in 1966.

Archerd had other suspected victims and they all had symptoms of hypoglycemia.

He was sentenced to death on March 6, 1968, for the three murder cases.

1950's Western Women Hairstyles

I would say that women in the 1950’s had good hairstyles. You mostly see women with short hair than long. Do not get me wrong I have seen women with long hair, but it was rare since the trend at that time was to have short hair that was curly. I am a full supporter with women with dark brown hair with curls. I do like that they did not think of women with short hair as portraying too close to be looking like men or that they were copying their hairstyle. It is not a competition at all. All genders can choose to have their short or long if they wish too. Society did have the image that women with short hair were housewives, medium for young, and long for Hollywood pin ups. Which I do not think that women should abide by these. I am fond of women having short hair so that there is less to do with it. I am personally one who likes to keep her hair short as I do not have patience for long hair. When going to salons in the 1950’s it was a lot easier to style or cut someone’s hair...

What Was Good About 1950's Cars?

I have to say that 1950’s cars look like they are from a whole different universe. What I love about these cars are the white streak around the front of each of the tires. You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!  I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel Air is my favorite looks wise. Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked, biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going. Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as well. The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out. When looking through pictures of...

The Story of Hilliard Brooks Jr's Murder

In 1950 on August 13, a 22-year old man named Hilliard Brooks Jr. was murdered on a bus after he was accused of making a disturbance.  Back in these days what was the disturbance, was he talking back because he had to stick up for himself or was it because he was protecting someone else?  Some reports were very unjust and plain unfair in my opinion.  The reason he was accused of this was because be refused to leave and enter from the rear bus as Jim Crow wanted him to.  This bus driver called the police and a white officer shot this black man and wounded two people in the process.  All because Jim Crow and the bus driver were trying to be big bosses and choose violence when they woke up that day.  Brooks left behind a pregnant wife and several young children. Even though many eye witnesses reported that the shooting was unnecessary, the officer faced no charges.  After this many people were outraged over how this all went down and set the stage for the...
