50s Valentine's Day Make Up Look

During the 1950's, they loved using red lipsticks and everyone wore a red lip at one point or another.

To recreate a 50's make up look is to include a red lip. This color of red is shiny and not too bright but not too dark either.

They used this type of red to appear youthful and attractive to men. As you know woman wanted the appearance of minimal make up.

During this time period women wanted fuller eyebrows. The used a dark eyebrow pencil to darken woman's eyebrows at the time.

They seemed very particular on what products they used on the daily basis. Mascara for those in the 50's was everyone's favorite accessory.

Just a little bit of mascara carried women and girls feminity and beauty for men. Moving onto blush and you know many people in this era loved this make up product a lot.

What was interesting to find out was that blush was used to be put on the eyebrows back according the 1950's magazines.

Many women went for the rosy and pastel hues of blush to finish off their make up looks. Lot of the public were going for the pale skin look.

This comes to the foundation many of the girls went for a bit of a lighter power or foundation for their faces.

Especially those who got tan easier, women who has a bit of a darker completion purchased lighter foundation.

Women were Disowned for Having Children Out of Wedlock

Many women during the 1950’s gave up their children for adoption and it was mostly because of babies being born out of wedlock. Within this time ladies who got pregnant out of wedlock were shamed and disowned by their friends and families. They were considered a disgrace to the family to have a child before marriage. During this era, it was widely judged. Which I can understand why they would be disowned because they could not wait until marriage but on the other hand it happens sometimes. Many women gave up their babies up for adoption had the right to refuse to disclose the identity of the father. Lots of the ladies did choose to tell people who the father was but it was more common that the women refused to tell. Social workers at the time respected these women’s decisions about this situation. I personally have mixed emotions about this topic. I do not think that people should be ashamed for having children out of wedlock but still should be widely influenced to hav

4 Scandalous Outfits in The 50’s!

This TikTok video shows four scandalous outfit styles women wore in during the 1950’s era. Jasmine Chiswell has put together great examples. It is interesting to know that during this time period women wearing tight short shorts was considered clothing that made people talk bad about. How it brought a bad reputation to some by just wearing these shorts. Today many people wear skintight shorts but that is the norm in society. During the 50’s women were to wear modest clothing and look like a presentable housewife. You were not to wear anything that counteracted this image. This representation could be good for some but bad for others if they did not wish to follow this norm. Coned shaped bras are quite strange I have to admit. They are pointy and do accentuate a women’s chest. I can understand where people were coming from when coned bras were labeled as a scandalous piece of clothing. They bring lots of amount of attention to a women’s chest area and could make some feel unco

What Is So Special About This Film? What is so special about it is the aesthetic this woman put into this video. She has such a cheery and fun voice that lights up the room. This woman has the dressing style down for this 1950's style video about beauty routines and how she does not talk bad about it either.  Some people in their videos they have some terrible things to say about the 50's while they are making a video about this time period. She thinks of doing this routine during the week to give yourself some self-care and be gentle with your skin and body.  The 50's themed music in this film makes it even more calming and has a relaxing vibe to it. She reminds me of my grandma who was born in the 1950's era and brings back some good memories. I definitely would recommend watching this video as she has some great tips and tricks to put in your modern or 50's beauty routine that you have. It works for both!
