1950s Hairstyles That Were Popular and Easy

 Thoughts on 50's Hairstyles

Hairstyles back in this era were mostly shown of women with short curly hair.

They had big curls that made the volume in their hair rise and looked so shiny as well.

The women put curlers in their hair the night before while it was wet so once they took them out they would have lushish waves on the top of their heads.

What is not talked about is that they did have long hair in this era.

Those who did produced the commercials and photoshoots just did not include these types of women/hairstyles as much.

All of these women had lots of volume and head full of hair as well, I am quite jealous.

Those who had longer hair in the 1950's styled their hair with bigger curlers the night before as well.

I would have to say I love the look of both hairstyles and I found them so intriguing!

Women's Hairstyles in the 1950s

Many of the women in this time period went for the short hair with curls as a way to look fancy and presentable.

They loved lots of volume in their hair and loved to show off their gorgeous necks.

As looking from photos women who were older wore the short hairstyles and the younger women/teenagers wore their hair longer.

I would assume to categorize people into groups so you would know who was older and who was younger in the town.

I think the short hairstyles as well made the women look more mature and seductive too.

The women did have nice figures to go along with these hairstyles as well.

I loved the headbands that they put in these ladies hair back in this era as it made them look so stunning and like they are full of fun!

1950s Common Alcohol Glasses

Many people drank lots of alcohol during the 50’s era. Mostly men though as woman would have been criticized if they drank too much. As they had to be sober and fully aware to take care of the children. One glass that is popular is the 1949 vintage whiskey glass. It is a small, but it can contain lots of alcohol. Many people like this whiskey glass because it can obtain lots of ice. Another widely talked about glass is the 1950 vintage wine cup.  This glass is popular because this caters to women who love wine. It can hold a good amount of white wine and red wine. Many people use this glass during parties and other gatherings. The scotch glasses are the most popular out of everyone of these cups mentioned. This is because lot of men used scotch glasses in the 1950’s. Especially for those who went to the local bars. Lastly, the beer pint glass is the next favorite for people who like to collect 1950’s cups or alcohol in general. This beer glass is clear and looks stylish.

Women were Disowned for Having Children Out of Wedlock

Many women during the 1950’s gave up their children for adoption and it was mostly because of babies being born out of wedlock. Within this time ladies who got pregnant out of wedlock were shamed and disowned by their friends and families. They were considered a disgrace to the family to have a child before marriage. During this era, it was widely judged. Which I can understand why they would be disowned because they could not wait until marriage but on the other hand it happens sometimes. Many women gave up their babies up for adoption had the right to refuse to disclose the identity of the father. Lots of the ladies did choose to tell people who the father was but it was more common that the women refused to tell. Social workers at the time respected these women’s decisions about this situation. I personally have mixed emotions about this topic. I do not think that people should be ashamed for having children out of wedlock but still should be widely influenced to hav
