1950s Triplet Singers

The History

Ruby Christine McGuire was the first born child in 1926, Dorothy Dottie McGuire was the second child born in 1928, and the last daughter was Phyllis Jean McGuire who was born in 1931.

These three sisters were born in Middletown, Ohio and grew up to be famous singers together within the 1950's.

The women grew up to be beautiful and have radiant smiles. There most popular hit songs were "Sincerely" and "Sugartime."

It was said that these two songs were a hit back in the day and everyone loved the McGuire Sisters. Their music of genre was traditional pop.

They were a singers together from the years of 1952 through 1968. It was said their mother was a minister but there seems to be no mention of the father.

Ruby died in 2018, Dorothy died in 2012, and Phyllis died in 2020. Although the causes of death were never released to the public.

1950s Triplet Sisters
Music Career

These woman all started singing together when Phyllis was just four years old and sang everywhere including churches, military bases,
and more.

By the time the 40's came into the picture, which was when the girls were in their late teens and early 20's, is when they added some pop in their songs.

By looking at the pictures of these young women they look as if they could be triplets instead of siblings that were born at different years.

The women got famous when they up rooted their lives to New York and met a man named Godfrey for a brief lucky encounter on a radio broadcast.

Once they performed for Godfrey they immediately won the contest and became regulars on his radio broadcast and his television shows.

The song "Sincerely" was at number one on the billboard charts in 1952 and their song "Sugartime" in 1958.

They had amazing luck and charm to be long singers during the 1950's era. I hope these three women had the time of their lives and spent it without regrets.

What Was Good About 1950's Cars?

I have to say that 1950’s cars look like they are from a whole different universe. What I love about these cars are the white streak around the front of each of the tires. You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!  I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel Air is my favorite looks wise. Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked, biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going. Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as well. The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out. When looking through pictures of...

Women were Disowned for Having Children Out of Wedlock

Many women during the 1950’s gave up their children for adoption and it was mostly because of babies being born out of wedlock. Within this time ladies who got pregnant out of wedlock were shamed and disowned by their friends and families. They were considered a disgrace to the family to have a child before marriage. During this era, it was widely judged. Which I can understand why they would be disowned because they could not wait until marriage but on the other hand it happens sometimes. Many women gave up their babies up for adoption had the right to refuse to disclose the identity of the father. Lots of the ladies did choose to tell people who the father was but it was more common that the women refused to tell. Social workers at the time respected these women’s decisions about this situation. I personally have mixed emotions about this topic. I do not think that people should be ashamed for having children out of wedlock but still should be widely influenced to...

1950s Hairstyles That Were Popular and Easy

Thoughts on 50's Hairstyles Hairstyles back in this era were mostly shown of women with short curly hair.  They had big curls that made the volume in their hair rise and looked so shiny as well.  The women put curlers in their hair the night before while it was wet so once they took them out they would have lushish waves on the top of their heads. What is not talked about is that they did have long hair in this era.  Those who did produced the commercials and photoshoots just did not include these types of women/hairstyles as much. All of these women had lots of volume and head full of hair as well, I am quite jealous.  Those who had longer hair in the 1950's styled their hair with bigger curlers the night before as well.  I would have to say I love the look of both hairstyles and I found them so intriguing!  Women's Hairstyles in the 1950s Many of the women in this time period went for the short hair with curls as a way to look fancy and presentable....
