Newly Discovered Color Images of 1950s

What You Can Experience

When looking through these photos you get a sense of realness just looking at these people on the street or walking to stores. Everything seems so busy and full of life but it was not polluted.

The cars are so unique and bulky but brings a sense of what your grandfathers and mothers did during this era. How there was little to none of social anxiety going on within these pictures.

Seems as if everyone had their own place in this world and had their lives picture perfect almost.

The signs along with the lights are enticing to spend your money on and just to enjoy life.

Looking at all these pictures in color makes my brain put together that they are real and were living like regular people during this time period.

Compared to those black and white photographs you cannot relate to.

The Vibes

The type of vibes these give off of is where there is a world without people relying on technology and speaking more face to face.

Although internet is the best but it can hold people back especially regarding expectations of themselves.

This era, gives people the courage to not even have social anxiety nor ever experience it since they are always out.

This true to housewives at the time even though they stayed home they still went out everyday to get the groceries and talked to workers at the place or talk to people walking down the street.

Many people hung out a lot more during this time period such as having other families over for dinners or have drinking parties.

They let her little kids have play dates together and the women mostly cooked, hung out, and chatting for a while.

This type of world speaks to me on a whole new level and I wish technology did not interfere so much in our lives.

1950's Western Women Hairstyles

I would say that women in the 1950’s had good hairstyles. You mostly see women with short hair than long. Do not get me wrong I have seen women with long hair, but it was rare since the trend at that time was to have short hair that was curly. I am a full supporter with women with dark brown hair with curls. I do like that they did not think of women with short hair as portraying too close to be looking like men or that they were copying their hairstyle. It is not a competition at all. All genders can choose to have their short or long if they wish too. Society did have the image that women with short hair were housewives, medium for young, and long for Hollywood pin ups. Which I do not think that women should abide by these. I am fond of women having short hair so that there is less to do with it. I am personally one who likes to keep her hair short as I do not have patience for long hair. When going to salons in the 1950’s it was a lot easier to style or cut someone’s hair...

What Was Good About 1950's Cars?

I have to say that 1950’s cars look like they are from a whole different universe. What I love about these cars are the white streak around the front of each of the tires. You have many car brands such as the Packard, Mercury, Chevrolet Corvette, Hudson, Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Bel Air, Chrysler Imperial, Chrysler New Yorker, Buick Skylar, and more!  I personally have to say the Chevrolet Bel Air is my favorite looks wise. Many people who had cars in this era were more towards those with some wealth. I noticed that a lot of the percentage of people walked, biked, or took the bus to wherever they were going. Not everyone in the 1950’s had a car but those who did had some money. Lots of these cars were geared towards couples who had children as well. The cars back in this time period came in many colors, which I love! Today many people have bland colors on their cars. Which are their preference but cars with unique or cool colors really stand out. When looking through pictures of...

The Story of Hilliard Brooks Jr's Murder

In 1950 on August 13, a 22-year old man named Hilliard Brooks Jr. was murdered on a bus after he was accused of making a disturbance.  Back in these days what was the disturbance, was he talking back because he had to stick up for himself or was it because he was protecting someone else?  Some reports were very unjust and plain unfair in my opinion.  The reason he was accused of this was because be refused to leave and enter from the rear bus as Jim Crow wanted him to.  This bus driver called the police and a white officer shot this black man and wounded two people in the process.  All because Jim Crow and the bus driver were trying to be big bosses and choose violence when they woke up that day.  Brooks left behind a pregnant wife and several young children. Even though many eye witnesses reported that the shooting was unnecessary, the officer faced no charges.  After this many people were outraged over how this all went down and set the stage for the...
