Women's Strict Beauty Routines in The 1950's

What Is So Special About This Film?

What is so special about it is the aesthetic this woman put into this video. She has such a cheery and fun voice that lights up the room.

This woman has the dressing style down for this 1950's style video about beauty routines and how she does not talk bad about it either.

Some people in their videos they have some terrible things to say about the 50's while they are making a video about this time period.

She thinks of doing this routine during the week to give yourself some self-care and be gentle with your skin and body.

The 50's themed music in this film makes it even more calming and has a relaxing vibe to it. She reminds me of my grandma who was born in the 1950's era and brings back some good memories.

I definitely would recommend watching this video as she has some great tips and tricks to put in your modern or 50's beauty routine that you have. It works for both!

What Happens In This 50's Video?

A woman commentator/Youtuber is in the bathroom and she starts with washing her face using 1950's products and she explains how it does not make her skin breakout either.

She washes up and uses some cotton pads along with a towel during this beauty routine. She has her hair up in a scarf/hair holder to make sure her hair does not interfere in her face.

This Youtuber uses a mud mask cream. What I loved about this is that she has a 50's themed bathroom that goes well with this video. I just had to point that out.

She goes onto massage her face and squish her cheeks upward to make her skin tighter as women did in this era. Afterwards she goes onto wear make up and to apply it so that it looks natural.

Then talks about making her powderpuff is clean and ready to use. As you know many of the woman even though they stayed home for many hours of the day they put on makeup and got dressed in day clothes at home.

This is what is surprising as far as I know many people are mostly in their comfy pajamas as soon as they get home or prefer to be comfortable at home at all times.

Women were Disowned for Having Children Out of Wedlock

Many women during the 1950’s gave up their children for adoption and it was mostly because of babies being born out of wedlock. Within this time ladies who got pregnant out of wedlock were shamed and disowned by their friends and families. They were considered a disgrace to the family to have a child before marriage. During this era, it was widely judged. Which I can understand why they would be disowned because they could not wait until marriage but on the other hand it happens sometimes. Many women gave up their babies up for adoption had the right to refuse to disclose the identity of the father. Lots of the ladies did choose to tell people who the father was but it was more common that the women refused to tell. Social workers at the time respected these women’s decisions about this situation. I personally have mixed emotions about this topic. I do not think that people should be ashamed for having children out of wedlock but still should be widely influenced to...

Many people drank lots of alcohol during the 50’s era. Mostly men though as woman would have been criticized if they drank too much. As they had to be sober and fully aware to take care of the children. One glass that is popular is the 1949 vintage whiskey glass. It is a small, but it can contain lots of alcohol. Many people like this whiskey glass because it can obtain lots of ice. Another widely talked about glass is the 1950 vintage wine cup.  This glass is popular because this caters to women who love wine. It can hold a good amount of white wine and red wine. Many people use this glass during parties and other gatherings. The scotch glasses are the most popular out of everyone of these cups mentioned. This is because lot of men used scotch glasses in the 1950’s. Especially for those who went to the local bars. Lastly, the beer pint glass is the next favorite for people who like to collect 1950’s cups or alcohol in general. This beer glass is clear and looks styli...
